Class Description:

The Bronze Fairy
This is a 4 day workshop that focuses on technique and sculpting the figure in polymer clay.  From armature to undersculpt to the last details, learn a component method for modeling that insures you use the right amount of clay for each body part and feature.  This is a measured and scaleable approach, ideal for small sculptures and takes advantage of polymer clay's best qualities.  It's adaptable to other materials, as well.  Lessons to be learned include proportions of the human figure, epoxy armature techniques, imitative bronze finishes, and baking procedures.

Katherine Dewey will provide prepared polymer clay, work surface, armature materials, wing materials ($25 materials fee) and will have modeling tools available for student use, but she asks that students bring the following:

Craft knife with sharp blade

• Measuring Calipers (a compass or sewing gauge will do)

• Students are encouraged to bring their own modeling tools (homemade or manufactured)

• Needle nose pliers and wire cutters

• Small, sharp scissors

• Note taking materials
